Simple Strawberry Smoothie Recipe Variations

Now, we obviously think that this is the best strawberry smoothie recipe, but there are some things that you can do to mix things up a bit – whether you have some extra ingredients that you want to use up, or you want to experiment with slightly different flavours. Here are some options:
If you fancy more of a strawberry banana smoothie, then try throwing in an extra banana – smoothies are a great way to use up a fresh banana that you might otherwise end up throwing away. You could also try adding any other frozen fruit that you have – frozen berries are particularly good with strawberries. You get a beautifully deep red or purple colour, and it tastes delicious!
You could also replace the apple juice for a different liquid – orange juice, or almond milk is an excellent source of vitamin E, and won’t raise your blood sugar levels, or you could try coconut milk, which is great for your gut health and can also help lower cholesterol.
To give your smoothie an extra creamy texture, try adding in some Greek yogurt (strawberry yogurt and vanilla yogurt will both work as well if you want to experiment with different flavours). Your choice of nut butter will give any smoothie recipe a bit of a kick, while chia seeds (high in heart-healthy fatty acids), fresh ginger (for an extra zing), almond butter (for lower cholesterol), or try some vanilla extract, maple syrup, raspberry jam or cocoa powder (purely for flavour). And don’t forget protein powder can be added to any smoothie recipes.
