  • Bunch of spring onions
  • 1 Cup gluten-free self-raising flour
  • Cold water
  • Oil

Instructions

  • Cut the spring onions into long strips
  • To prepare the perfect batter, whisk together gluten-free self-raising flour and cold bubbly water until smooth.
  • Heat the oil in a large pan until it shimmers.
  • Dip each spring onion strip into the batter and coat well.
  • Put the coated strips in the pan and fry until they are crispy and brown.
  • To make them easier to eat, slice the fried onions into little pieces using scissors or a knife.
  • Make the dipping sauce by combining rice wine vinegar, Hoisin sauce, maple syrup, Teriyaki sauce, and sesame seed oil in a small dish. Give it a good whisk, and if a little too strong, add a tsp or two of water.
