3 SMOOTHIES FOR A (RAGING) HANGOVER

Drinking (alcohol) will create havoc with your blood sugar levels, dehydrate and strip out key minerals. The best way to start to feel better is with a glass of water, then one of these replenishing smoothies. And get moving – take a walk, breathe deeply (through your nose, more info on that here), and give your body time to flush everything out.

Detox Zing with… Berocca

Drop 1 orange flavoured Energy Berocca into a glass of water (around 200ml). Once it’s all fizzed out, blend with Detox Zing. Not only will the smoothie provide you with a big hit of vit C, but ginger is well known for its anti-nausea properties. The Berocca will replenish your B vits (for energy), magnesium and zinc.

Black Magic with… Coconut water

Activated charcoal traps toxins in its porous surface and prevents them from being absorbed into your body – handy after the back-to-back Jaeger bombs.

Dark berries are packed with antioxidants – miracle molecules that reduce the risk of many diseases by performing a body ‘clean up’ – scavenging free radicals and reducing damage caused by oxidative stress.

Coconut water is naturally isotonic, meaning that it is absorbed faster into your blood stream than water, so you’ll get rehydrated faster. It’s also packed with some of the key minerals (potassium and magnesium) your body has lost through dehydration.

CaFiend with… a 50ml shot of espresso + 150ml almond milk

Add an extra half banana and a spoonful of peanut butter. Bananas are rich in potassium, which will help get your electrolytes re-balanced.

Almonds and peanuts are rich in hangover-fighting nutrients—specifically magnesium and protein.

The caffeine will obviously help with the headache and (likely) lack of sleep and get you functioning.
