NUT BUTTERS AND THE BEST FRAPPE

Perfect Peanut Butter

Who doesn’t love peanut butter, slathered on toast with a generous helping of jam and a cup of tea on a Sunday morning, can you really go wrong? As I’m sat here swiping my slices of apple through a puddle of almond butter, I thought I’d talk about these delicious nutty spreads and great uses for them.

All the Good Stuff

Peanutbutter

First up, trusty peanut butter, we all know it well. Look for natural, and the fewer ingredients the better, avoid excessive added sugar and hydrogenated oils. Although high in calories, it’s packed with protein and fibre, so keeps you fuller for longer, meaning you snack less.

NUT BUTTERS

(from left to right- almond, cashew, smooth peanut and hazelnut butters)

Almond Butter

Next up, almond butter. Gaining popularity in recent years, this nut butter is high in monounsaturated fat (that’s the good kind!) that keeps your heart healthy. It also contains less saturated fat than peanut butter (saturated is fine in moderation).

Suggestion

For a delicious treat why not gently swirl a few dollops of almond butter into your favourite brownie recipe (when it’s in the tin) before baking and serve warm with a handful of raspberries, yes please!

Cashew Butter

How about cashew butter? I must confess I hadn’t tried this one until recently, but I have repurchased since doing so!

Cashew Butter

Peanut Butter Smoothies

I blended our Strawberry Split smoothie with a spoonful of Meridian Smooth Cashew butter (100% cashews- no other ingredients!) and 200ml of Organic Cashew milk, resulting in a delicious, creamy smoothie, perfect for pre workout fuelling.

Suggestion

Stir a large spoonful of this creamy nut butter into your chicken and veg stir fry with soy and chilli sauce and top with toasted cashews and fresh spring onions- a quick, balanced midweek meal.

Hazelnut Butter

Last but not least, hazelnut butter. We made a totally tasty drink with this one-

Hazelnut Butter

Peanut Butter Frappe

Have you tried our frappe pellets? If you haven’t get yourself some, get yourself some and make this! A spoonful of hazelnut butter, a heaped teaspoon of cacao (you can use cocoa or drinking chocolate), 150ml of your favourite milk (can be dairy/nut/soy- it all works!), a drizzle of honey to taste and 1 x sachet of our frappe pellets. Blend for 30 seconds and voila! A delicious hazelnutty, chocolatey, creamy frappe- so moreish and so easy to make!

Let us know if you have any nutty ideas to share!
