What is the difference between a food processor and a blender?

Well, a blender is mainly used for liquid-based kitchen tasks, like smoothies and soups. You can get stick blenders, of course, but the best benders for smoothies tend to be jug blenders or ones that blend directly into the cup.

Food processors, on the other hand, usually have a number of different attachments so that they can perform multiple jobs, such as mixing, kneading – that kind of thing. They do sometimes fall into the trap of ‘jack of all trades, master of none’, so make sure that if you are predominantly making smoothies with a food processor, that the blender attachment is up to scratch.
