How to recycle

First up, if you have the space, keep the outer box!

As a B Corp, we want to make it as easy as possible for you to recycle the packaging, and leave as little impact on the planet as possible! Obviously our priority is getting the smoothies to you still frozen.

Denim liners

We offer a free returns scheme for the denim liners via Royal Mail – this means that we can reuse them reducing waste and closing the loop on packaging.

Send back a minimum of 6 liners (that’s 3 orders, as we pack 2 liners per box) in the outer box - or if you no longer have it, another box or bag.

Start your returns process here. You can either select collection from your home (no printer required) or drop off at any Royal Mail post office, locker, or Parcel Shop. If you choose that option, you can either print your label or it will be emailed to you.

Smoothie packs

We package our smoothies in food-safe plastic, although we are working on a new paper sachet for next year (this comes with a few challenges as they have to last in the freezer for 18 months).

You can recycle these with your supermarket shopping bags in the designated plastic bag banks.

Outer box

If you don’t want to keep it, then this is fully kerb-side recyclable. Just flatten and pop out with your normal recycling.

If you have a garden, it’s also good for composting or laying flat and suppressing weeds!

Dry ice

Once the dry ice has fully evaporated (remember, please DON'T TOUCH the bags without gloves if there is still dry ice inside), then these need to be put in the general waste – they can’t be recycled.

Questions about Recycling?

Why are denim liners a sustainable choice?

Denim insulation is a strong sustainable option because it repurposes post-consumer textile waste, giving discarded cotton a second life and reducing the volume sent to landfill. By using recycled fibres, it typically has a lower embodied carbon footprint than virgin materials, and cotton’s natural properties still provide effective thermal performance without relying heavily on synthetic inputs. Many denim liners can also be reused multiple times, extending their lifecycle, and where designed without complex plastic laminates, they can be recycled again or more easily processed at end of life, making them a practical, circular choice for insulated packaging.

Are you smoothie sachets made out of recycled plastic?

Smoothie sachets can’t typically be made from recycled plastic because they need to meet strict food safety and barrier requirements that recycled materials often can’t guarantee. Packaging for foods must provide a highly reliable barrier against oxygen, moisture, and contamination to maintain shelf life and safety, and this is best achieved with virgin, multi-layer plastics. Recycled plastics can carry trace contaminants, have variable quality, and are harder to use in the complex laminate structures required for these sachets, which makes them unsuitable for direct food contact in this format under current regulations and manufacturing constraints.

Why do you use dry ice, not normal ice blocks?

We use dry ice instead of standard ice packs because smoothies need to stay fully frozen at around -18°C for the entire transit time, and regular ice simply can’t maintain temperatures that low for 24 hours.

Ice packs typically stabilise around 0°C, which would allow the product to thaw and compromise quality and safety. Dry ice, by contrast, sits at around -78°C and sublimates slowly, providing a consistent deep-freeze environment that keeps the smoothies solid from dispatch through to delivery.
