We continually strive for better, we set industry-leading standards and we put delivering sensational products at the heart of what we do.
How we became love struck
Turn back to 2004 and our founder, Richard wanted more from life. He ditched his advertising job and put everything on the line to become his own boss. He knew he was going to start a smoothie company, but wasn’t quite sure how, so he started by selling them at London’s food mecca Borough Market. Not only were they healthy and utterly delicious, they were also incredibly popular! Encouraged by his old colleagues at Saatchi & Saatchi, he set up a dedicated smoothie bar at his old agency, with two more bars in London and Cardiff following suit.
However, as the business grew, there were problems with portion control and taste consistency, so he started pre-portioning fruit into freezer bags… And there it was, Richard’s light bulb moment! A revolutionary new concept that saw the business shift from running smoothie bars to supplying cafés, bars and hotels with little bags of mixed fruit and veg so they could make perfect smoothies every time. Love Smoothies was born.
Growing pains
Getting his idea to fruition wasn’t easy. Set back after set back left him soul searching about whether he’d done the right thing. He spent months trying to find a factory and logistics company, only to be let down at the last minute. He spent another 18 months raising funding, only for the financial crisis to hit; and he had to re-mortgage his flat several times during the business’s infancy. But he knew the ‘frozen to fresh’ smoothie concept was a winner, so he kept persevering.
20 years on...
Now the world has woken up to healthy eating, convenience and sustainability, and Love Smoothies has become Love Struck, encompassing milkshakes, soups and much more innovation to come. We now supply over 6,000 outlets worldwide including David Lloyd gyms, Ocado and Amazon, and we export to Australia, NZ, America, The Middle East and Europe.
Whilst the business has grown, the mission has remained the same. To spread the joy of easy-to-make smoothies, shakes and soups. We started by selling directly to customers at Borough Market and now we’ve come full circle – delivering directly to you in your home!
